FireFly's first photo

I had my ultrasound done this morning. It was a wonderful experience. Absolutely amazing to see that tiny baby moving all about. Sometimes I forget about the tiny little life growing inside of me - it is a real honor to be able to offer this child both a life and a perfect environment for a few months. I wasn't even sure if I was going to be able to make it to the appointment this morning. As I was getting out of the shower I suddenly felt really dizzy and light headed. I rested for about an hour and then set off for the appointment, I couldn't bear the thought of not knowing if our little bundle of joy was okay. I was a little out of it on the drive down to the ultrasound office but, nothing like earlier in the day. About half way through the examination I started to have the same feeling. The person who was giving me the ultrasound said it was probably due to me lying on my back. He had me turn over on my left side and suddenly I felt much better. He said it was a lack of blood flow due to constricted veins. It made sense. I couldn't wait to get home to share the pictures and the video we received of the baby, it was so exciting. We all say down and watched the video together. Newt was so excited! Kerry wasn't to sure about the whole thing and just kept saying that she hoped it was a girl because she doesn't like brothers! Kyle kept running up to the screen pointing at the baby. Overall, it was a pretty good day. It rained a bit in the morning, which was a nice change to the usual weather. I will try to post the video to You Tube - I think Sean is going to have to show me how since I am not THAT computer savy.

Doctor's Appointment

I had a check up today and all looked well. The doctor did want me to get a detailed ultrasound and blood work ASAP though. It is the ASAP part that makes me concerned. It makes me wonder.... is there something he suspects and is not saying until he has more information. My stats today were weight - 158lbs (I need to double check on this it may have been 151), blood pressure - 120/80 (this is rather on the high side for me - so of course I am freaking out...), and I measured at 28cm. I have my next appointment scheduled on the 30th, I am hoping Sunflower will be able to make it to this appointment with me, it bothers me to have to go alone... But, the thought of bring the kids to the appointment today was even more daunting. Can you image 3 kids (5,3,1) waiting in an OB office... oh and he was running about an hour late! So, I had all of the blood work done today including the glucose test (which I despise! But, on the bright side - at least it was only the one hour test!). The results will be sent to the doctor's office by Tuesday. And of course I am going to call and bug them just to be sure everything is okay. I called the ultrasound office and have an appointment for tomorrow at 9:30am. It is supposed to be a detailed ultrasound, so hopefully I will get some piece of mind tomorrow. As so now, I am off to try to get a little sleep before tomorrow's appointment - since the alarm will be going off in four hours. :)

Christmas Photo or Maybe not...

Who would have thought it would be so difficult to get an okay picture of five kids! These are the only two out of about 40 that were even a little presentable! I guess next year we are going to have to start trying earlier, say Thanksgiving!

Saturday's Events

Today (Saturday – I am still on Saturday, even though technically it is Sunday) we brought the girls for haircuts. They did such a great job staying still and it is great to see more of their faces again instead of all that hair! Sean came into the salon with us (Jason, Connor & Kyle were happy to wait in the car and munch on crackers). Sean was surprised how much different the salon was from his barber shop. His comment was “Wow, it is loud in here with all this talking and it smells!” what can you say to that he was right… Haircuts were followed up by a trip to the donut shop and then onto Wal-Mart for the usual supplies: laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, TP, diapers, etc. After Wal-Mart we headed over to Islands for lunch. Lunch went pretty smoothly with the exception of Sean & Connor picking on each other most of the time. We made it through the whole meal without spilling anything! After lunch it was time to head home for naps. Jason and I starting watching The Bounty, I made it about half way through it before I felt sick and needed to go rest. Resting led to a two hour nap with Kyle, refreshing. Kerry came in talking about the Festival of Lights, she was so excited. She kept talking about the tunnel of lights. So, then it was off to the Del Mar race track to see all the lights. It was a lot of fun and all the kids really enjoyed it. It was not as good as last year, in my opinion, but still fun. It was such a warm night; it had to be in the high 60’s so we decided to take the kids over to Carvel for ice cream. We came home and watched Rudolph the Red- nosed Reindeer. The boys were the first to fall asleep, of course. It is great to see the children enjoying the same movies I did as a child. Only difference was I had to wait until they were played on TV, the kids have the luxury of DVDs! With all the kids tucked in bed it was time to start working…. This of course at this time of night leads to sleep. I awoke around 1:00am with stomach pains and haven’t been able to get back to sleep. The baby is very active now and that makes sleep difficult as well. I also have had horrible acid reflux this pregnancy and Tums are not working this pregnancy. They actually make me vomit, but that is no surprise – this pregnancy everything makes me vomit unless it is precluded by an ice cream cone or milkshake! That is about it for today; tomorrow is another day and will be here soon.

The beginning...

I am writing this blog as a family journal of sorts. I was always one to keep journals and other souvenirs for remembering later on. I miss those days and am hoping I am find the time to do it this way since the old way is impossible, seeing as we can’t seem to keep a pen in this house!
